Step into action together

31st August, 2017

St Edmund’s Church in Warkton, famous for its Montagu Monuments, is championing community spirit by hosting a free civic event this September.

On Saturday 9 September, local residents are invited to join together for a series of unique activities focused on the health and wellbeing of the community.

Funded by Northamptonshire Community Foundation, it will feature instruction from local artist Carole Miles from Kettering’s The Green Patch on creating a living sculpture of community pledges, and will provide an opportunity for local organisations to showcase their work.

Anne-Marie Sandos, Education Officer at St Edmund’s Church, said: “The aim is to get people together and thinking about the ways, large or small, that they can help their community – and how their community can help them in return.

“We encourage everyone to come along, young or old, and to step into action together.”

Festivities kick off at 10am with Carol Miles at Green Patch Community Allotments.

Afterwards, attendees can enjoy a walk to St Edmund’s through the stunning Northamptonshire countryside.

Visitors can learn more about local community groups upon arrival at the church, where food will be provided by Elsie’s Caf.  Elsie’s Real Junk Food project is aimed at reducing food waste where diners are urged to “pay as you feel”.

Walkers are urged to bring water and wear walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.

Green Patch Community Allotments are located at Valley Walk, Kettering, NN16 0LU and St Edmund’s church is located off Pipe Lane, Warkton, NN16 9XH.

Community groups interested in showcasing their work at the event can contact Anne-marie on 07909254598 or at asandos@buccleuch.com.
