First bloom at Boughton House

14th January, 2020

Boughton Snowdrops

The historic gardens at Boughton House will open for the first time in 2020 in honour of the National Garden Scheme.

In February, the gates will open for one day only on Sunday 23rd February from 11am – 3pm, when visitors can enjoy a winter walk among the first blooms of the year in the Walled Garden and across the wider landscape.

David Cullum, Parks and Gardens Manager at Boughton House, said: “We always look forward to our first Gardens opening of the year. Not only is it a great opportunity to enjoy Boughton’s stunning landscape emerging from winter, complete with the first snowdrops of the year, but it also raises money for a variety of good causes through the National Garden Scheme.”

David and his team have been working to map Boughton’s many varieties of snowdrops in recent months and invite fellow gardens enthusiasts to share their findings on Boughton’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/BoughtonHouse.

The Gardens will open from 11am – 3pm on Sunday 23rd February. Tickets cost £6 for adults, £3 for children and £14 for a family of two adults and two children.

Visitors can also enjoy light bites in the 18th century stable block café and visit the on-site gift shop and second hand book shop.

The National Garden Scheme gives visitors unique access to over 3,700 exceptional private gardens in England and Wales, and raises money for nursing and health charities. Find out more at https://www.ngs.org.uk.
