Boughton House Easter opening

One of the finest stately homes in the country is gearing up for its Easter opening, which will allow visitors to experience its history, heritage and stunning art collection.
The three-day event will offer visitors the chance to enjoy the ‘English Versailles’, the home of the Duke of Buccleuch, which is nestled in eleven thousands acres of English countryside and was one of the primary filming locations for the Oscar winning Les Miserables.
On April 19th, 20th and 21st, the Boughton gardens, gift shop and café will open between 12-5pm, with last entry at 4pm. Tours of the House will operate from 2pm-4pm, with a special Beds, Books and Beyond Tour taking place at 1pm daily.
Charles Lister, Boughton House Property Manager, said: ‘We’re thrilled to be welcoming visitors to the estate over the Easter Bank Holiday. Boughton is steeped in history and culture, which we are eager to celebrate with our guests. We hope to make it a memorable and enjoyable experience for all.’
Boughton is also celebrating another jam-packed summer events schedule, and has recently announced a rare performance at the House by the Buskaid Soweto String Ensemble on July 13th, while endurance race Tough Mudder is returning to the estate on July 12-13.
Visitors will also have another chance to visit the estate when the House and gardens open every day in August, while an open-air film screening is scheduled for August 2-3. Other highlights of the upcoming summer season include an art, craft and design fair (August 9-10), Alt Festival (August 15-17), Greenbelt Festival (August 23-25).
Charles added: ‘These are exciting times for Boughton, with lots of special events coming up, including weddings and summer concerts and festivals. It’s wonderful that more and more people are becoming part of Buccleuch’s history.’
