Robin Hood to steal the show this summer at Boughton House

4th April, 2018

The celebrated Chapterhouse Theatre Company is returning to Boughton Estate this summer for an open air performance of Robin Hood and his Merry Men.

The touring troupe will stop by the lawns of Boughton House for an al fresco performance on Tuesday 14th August, during the Estate’s summer opening season.

The new production for 2018 will see Robin Hood and his band of merry men travelling through Sherwood Forest, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. When the evil Sheriff of Nottingham schemes to stop the outlaws, the merry men must join with the beautiful Maid Marian to rescue Robin from the Sheriff’s evil clutches and restore peace to the forest lands.

Inspired by folklore, myth and legend, this brand-new version of Robin’s notorious story is brought alive with traditional sword play, song, music, dance and stunning medieval costumes, and is adapted by award winning writer Laura Turner.

Charles Lister, property manager at Boughton House, said: “Performances by Chapterhouse are always a huge draw for visitors, who come in their droves, armed with their picnic blankets and flasks of tea.

“The Wind in the Willows was a big hit with our audience last year and we’re looking forward to enjoying this year’s staging of Robin Hood and his Merry Men here in the heart of the English countryside.

“Our open air events have become an integral part of our summer events programme in recent years, complementing our cultural offering, which includes historic House tours and exhibitions.”

Tickets for this one-off performance at the home of the Duke of Buccleuch are on sale now at: https://www.seetickets.com/event/robin-hood-and-his-merry-men/boughton-house/1197548

Adult tickets are priced from £17.60 and children’s from £11. Gates open at 5pm on Tuesday 14th august, with the show starting at 6pm.
